About me

Table with Toys for Play Therapy

A Play Therapist for Young Hearts

I am Nisa Abdullah, a Certified play therapist and trainee Filial play Coach registered with PTUK.

Play is a child’s natural language. Through play therapy, children learn to express feelings, understand emotions, and find healthy ways to cope — helping them feel calmer and more in control.

As a Filial play Coach, I help parents to understand their children’s social and emotional difficulties, teach them how to strengthen the parent-child relationships and improve the family bonds. I also love to teach parents to communicate with their children’s feelings and experiences through play rather than words. I have 8 years experience of working with children and young people, with a wide variety of difficulties for eight years. I have considerable experience and have been fortunate enough to work with a wide range of children to understand their problems, address and implement successful strategies to support them in improving their mental, physical and emotional well-being. My background is in early years and education along with experience of additional educational needs. I have always been a strong advocate of play because I believe that play is a natural right of children and is an integral part of their development. I use integrated and trauma informed approach to improve the emotional health of children. I have an honour degree in early childhood and Education and PG Diploma in play therapeutic skills.

I’m a hardworking and motivated individual who thrives to achieve success, whether that is required through independent work or group work. Also, I have the ability to meet deadlines with high organizational and communication skills. Being a Play Therapist, for me is a big responsibility of which I look to enjoy and enable my clients to play out their accumulated feelings of tention, frustration, insecurity, aggression, fear, bewilderment and confusion.
